Slow-food and living a healthy life.

Our project, the Rhythms of Nature, puts huge weight in the matter of eating right and exercising, as well as taking care of our planet and the environment.
One of the leading words in our project has been 'Slow Food'. But some people may wonder, what does the word really mean? What is Slow Food?

Slow Food is a movement which was founded in Italy in 1986. It protested against all the fast-food and half-fabrics we find ourselves eating and worked as a counter-measure against our rising tempo of life. Today it is spanning all over the world, focusing in our cousine and food-cultures. Good, clean and fair is its three founding words:

Good - because food and drinks are supposed to be enjoyed, not just a way get nurture.
Clean - because food and drinks should not contain toxic material and that the production itself shouldn't harm the environment.
Fair
- because good food is a right even for those with less money in their wallets. The people who produce it must have good living standards.

Carlo Barsotti.

Carlo Barsotti
, who is one of the leading figures in the Slow Food-movement, describes the idea like this:

"For me it's easy: Slow Food deals with needs we all have. Needs like happiness, health, quality in life and a sense of community.
I love food. And most of all I love enjoying my meals, slowly and intensively, together with other people.
Slow Food is about pleasure. It's about seeing your meals as a way to well-being and increased quality in our lives. Seeing your commodities, transports and the entire culture of our cousine from a whole new perspective.
The movement strives to restore the meal - the slow process of pleasure with your friends and family, the sensuality in eating with care for our environment and the people around us."
